THE PURPOSE OF BIRTH
BIRTHDAY
Birthday is
surely a very special time to thank the Lord for creating us in this world. It’s
a celebration of another great year ahead of us. Birthdays create a new blank
page to begin and yet another chance to beautify our life with different
colors. It’s also the time to pause and reflect, to look back without sorrow
and to look forward with hope.
From birth
to death everyone have one day in a year celebrating as our Birthday. Few of us
have two birthdays as our certificates show a different day or we give more
importance to our birth star etc. There are different kinds of celebration.
Some of us make it grand with family and friends. There are few of us we don’t
celebrate, either we forget our own birthday due to circumstances or the family
and friends don’t remember us. Whatever it is, God who created us always
remember our birthday as He has a plan and a purpose to fulfill in each new year
of our life.
God always
have something to do in our new age. Most of the time we don’t realize them. At
each year of our birthday, a new
beginning will begin, God will be training us for the very purpose for He has
designed within us. We may wonder why God created us, when we doesn’t know the
purpose of our existence. God has a plan for creating us on this particular
day, time, year and family – trust it, live it and enjoy it.
Let us see
from the Bible, some birthdays that are similar to us…
Isaac was
born at the very old age to his father Abraham (Genesis 21:5). Few of us, born
to older parents. We are indeed a blessing to them, the greatest miracle in
their life.
Joseph was
born to Rachel after a long period which made Rachel to think about ending her
life at one point (Genesis 30:1,2). We might have born after a delay period to
our parents. Birth is designed not by man but by God (Genesis 30:22-24).
Motherhood
is the greatest gift from God. Some of us have not seen our mother as they passed
away after giving birth to us or we might have lost them in middle of our
childhood. Rachel passed away when Benjamin was born (Genesis 35:17-19).
Most of the
time, life put us into strange situation unexpectedly. When we think that our
life is over and life seems to be hopeless, God will fulfill His plan when we
are really ready to give our problems to Him. Same was the life of Ruth, she
would not have even thought about a marriage and children when her first
husband died. When we see Naomi, her mother-in-law she was totally given up and
changed her name into Mara (Ruth 1:20). Even in this hopeless situation, God (our
anchor) will build up a family and give a meaningful life and we could be born
one like Obed (Ruth 4:13,17) after a storm.
Hannah, had
a good husband. But there is some emptiness within her, that is not having a
child. There can be no human to help in such a situation, only God can. She
have gone through many hurting, curses and bad words (1 Samuel 1:6). She kept
everything within her and she went to church begging God “to give her a
child for His glory" (1 Samuel 1:11). Samuel was born and served God
(1 Samuel 1:28) for the rest of his life. We may be born out of the greatest
sacrifice of our Mother.
We are born and lived happily and suddenly
at childhood age we lost our parents and was taken care by grandparents or
relatives or by any orphanage. The life of Esther was the same, she was taken
care by Mordecai, (Esther 2:7) her uncle. God has provided a person to take
care of us when we are in such a situation. We can be the one celebrating our
birthdays without parents.
Some of us were born as a prophesied child
to our parents, even before our birth - like John the Baptist (Luke 1:13). Everything
was miraculous to normal human eyes and everyone who heard will wonder and think “what will this child turn out to be?” (Luke 1:66).
This have became a reason for us to have a birthday in our life. My faith does
not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God (1 Corinthians 2 : 5).
Now, when life is so hard with struggles
and impossibilities we may even think like Job and curse the day of our birth
(Job 3:3).
We are not here in this world accidentally,
celebrating each year remembering a day as our “Birthday”.
Even in the midst of storms we must learn
to praise Him (Lord) such a kind of strong faith is vanishing in today’s
generation. At the end of the test, Job was blessed more than what he lost. The
purpose of our birth is to stand firm in “Faith" no matter how worst the
situation is.
Break the rules that we have lived and make
our dreams come true through Christ, our Creator. We are not a mess, we are
brave for trying one more time from the bottom line. We are born one day, we
die one day and we can change one day, let that day be our special day to rise
up and fly high. It all begins from offering a thanksgiving in whatever
situation we are today.
We may be having good or bad life. We may be
saying because I was born in this world, in this place, in this family, in this
situation, in this country, in this culture, in this circumstance, in this
generation - I’m unable to become successful. But remember, we are not created
by any human beings. We are created by our Creator, often at times we forget
the potentials and talents God has put within us. We can overcome our weakness
only when we are ready to surrender to Him by our prayers, petitions and
obedience to His words.
Who created us? God created man in His own
image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis
1:27). Both male and female are created by God. When we look around us today,
in most of the places females are not given any respect or dignity. They won’t
get good education, food, clothes etc. God created female also in His own
image. He has given females a reason and a purpose to live.
Sarah, mother of Isaac did not give up on
God’s purpose in her life seeing her older age. Hannah did not give up praying
to God to fulfil her need. Esther did not sit in one corner as she has no
parents, she fought a good battle and saved her people. Life did not end when
her husband passed away, Ruth made a biggest sacrifice to stick with Naomi even
though Naomi had nothing to give her, Ruth did not leave the old Naomi alone.
That became a reason for God to bless her later.
Birthdays will come every year, but each
new year is a new beginning to find something new within us that our Father in
Heaven has planted deep within each of us.
Count not the candles, see the lights we
can give. Count not the years, but see the life we live.Count our smiles, not tears. As the number keeps increasing in life we
must be ready to know and fulfil His purpose in our life, “Before I formed
you in the womb, I knew you" (Jeremiah 1:5). Our parents can’t tell our
sex until we were born, but our creator knew us before we were formed.
Jesus is the only reason I made it this
far. When our strength runs out, God’s strength begins. God wouldn’t allow
certain situations unless He had a purpose, just grow through the process, at
the end we will be completing a beautiful plan executed through us which is far
beyond human wisdom.
All we need to do is give our life into His
precious hands, “the blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin" which
paves way for God to act in our life to start a new beginning “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it
springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams
in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43: 19).
God will bring beauty from ashes. When the word of God changes things that we cannot change on our own, get ready for the impossible! Let’s start our commitment,
“when I act, who can reverse it?
(Isaiah 43:13)”
We grow up the day when we have the first real laugh. The day we discover why we are born will be a great day! A birth date is a reminder to celebrate the life according to His will as well as to update the life for His purpose.
May God guide us to see the unseen within us in each new year of our life (Birthday). Let us learn to take one step forward in turning the challenges we face into opportunities, let us consider our weaknesses in giving it into His hands so that He can create us in His unique style and mould us to be a better version.
God’s unfailing and unconditional love is
forever.
All glory and honour belongs to Him alone.
